Haunting (Poem)

You still haunt me in my sleep.
And even in my dreams you still manage to hurt me.

But nothing will hurt me more
than the day you gave pieces of me
to someone else.

And here I thought, the day your hands
and voice strangled me and cracked my skin,
was the last you would see of me.

5:14 AM. I awoke in a cold sweat. With these words crashing in my head, while my eyes rapidly wandered. Caught between deep slumber and reality. For i could not wake from this nightmare.

I guess that is where you will remain. Where I will see the shattered fragments of you. Between a dream and a nightmare.

But please. My soul needs sleep. So haunt it another day.
